You know that feeling you get when playing a video game and you can just feel that there is going to be some sort of horrible boss in the next area? That’s kind of how Ardos felt right now. He couldn’t help but feel like this was all a bad idea, burning Fortree and all. Who knows what kind of crazy event hid inside this city of trees. It was dark feeling indeed, though Ardos chalked it up to just being early nervousness. It was his first true act as champion after all, and though a lot rode on this one act he was confident it would end in Lux’s favor, as seen by his ever prominent smile.
The day before, Ardos had his Swablu fly over the city and drop little fliers that had one simple word in bold red letters: “Evacuate.” Why did he do this? Well Ardos was certainly aware of the bad publicity Lux has been getting thanks to past events, and he assumed that if he just randomly attacked a city and attempted to kill everyone in it, well it just wouldn’t look good. This act preformed like a…warning of sorts. He was technically telling them ahead of time that their city was about to be destroyed, so they best get out while they could. Ardos is now not very well responsible for the lives of those who stayed…which apparently was most of the town since who in their right mind would listen to a bunch of random fliers that barely anyone saw?
As Ardos and his small band of Hoenn officials waited within the trees that lay in the route right next to the city, one can only imagine the suspense that filled their small waiting area as Ardos waited to give the signal. The champion had brought six other Lux to this mission, three high ranking officials and three nameless, faceless grunts that will most likely die (though who could tell). The three grunts were equipped with large flamethrowers while Ardos planned for him and his higher ranked companions to rely on fire pokemon. Everyone was given a gas mask to protect themselves from the thick smoke that would soon consume the city, as well as a cyanide pill just in case worst comes to worst (Though the odds of anyone besides the grunts being silly enough to use the pill were slim). When exactly Ardos was to start this mission was never shared, though he had a particular time in mind.
When it was exactly twelve o’clock and the sun was in the middle of the sky, Ardos quietly said, “Put on your masks.” and followed his own order by putting his mask on. After a while longer, Ardos snapped his fingers and stepped out of the bundle of trees onto the main road of the route connecting to Fortree. After the moment his companions would follow him out, the three grunts would position themselves on both sides of the road and unleash their flamethrowers onto the trees. As the fire quickly spread from tree to tree, Ardos walked forward toward the entrance of the city. As he came near, he took out a pokeball and unleashed his Charizard. A second after the beast was unleashed, Ardos jumped on his Charizard and the behemoth took to the air. High above the many silly looking tree houses, Ardos whispered to his pet, “Let it burn my friend.” Charizard wasn’t exactly happy with his master’s order but he had no choice but to obey. The dragon like pokemon swooped down and unleashed his Flamethrower upon the tops of the poorly made wooden tree huts, causing the leafs that covered said huts to quickly erupt with dancing flames. Ardos cackled as his glorious mission began. His companions had their orders, and surely they were simple enough. How hard is it to completely wipe out a city made of wood?
