[/justify][/blockquote][/blockquote]The footsteps of Jian’s short stride slowed somewhat as she moved around one of the houses dotting the main walkway of Canalave City. At least she thought it was Canalave City. Glancing at her map a couple of hours ago gave all the indications that she was now in the port city, but she couldn’t be certain. It was fairly cold, and the chilling seaside breeze did nothing to counter that fact. Jian pulled her arms up around her chest to hug herself in an attempt to keep warm. She’d actually not intended to wind up in Canalave in Sinnoh, but had anyway. Strange how the world works… she mused silently, shivering.
Upon winding up in Canalave, she’d decided to try checking out the library to see what it had to offer. However, she’d spent the past half-hour or so winding between houses and other buildings trying to stay on the main road. She had been distracted, for some reason, and wasn’t able to focus. Now, though, she felt thoroughly lost. In a sense, she was, having never been to the city before. However, Jian was not the sort of child to get lost easily. It’s scary, though… she thought, the small voice inside her head whimpering slightly. …I know how to find my way around, but it’s like it doesn’t do any good.
The red-haired girl stumbled and let out a small exclamation of surprise when the toe of her shoe caught on a slightly raised iron fixture. She caught herself and looked back to see what it was one of the grounded rungs of the bridge she was on. Lucky I didn’t fall in the water! she thought, shivering at the thought of being immersed in frigid water when the air outside was already this cold. Turning slightly to peer down at the water over the rail, Jian let her gaze fall, and she sighed.
Dusk had fallen in her short time in Canalave, and she didn’t know where she’d go after this. Maybe the inn will be willing to let me sit up in the lobby… she thought, glancing in its direction before staring at the water in silence.
