The teenager was perched on the wooden bench next to a sturdy green Vibrava. The Dragon-type pokemon was fidgeting all the while next to its trainer, twitching its head back and forth, and keeping its body moving up and down as it bent and straightened its legs out. Occasionally flapping its wings, the pokemon moved its head impatiently from side to side. ”Vi…vibrava-va!” The Vibration pokemon next to her was complaining about being still for such a long while. Alyssa looked at her pokemon and laughed, patting it on the back between its wings, stilling it instantly. He collapsed gently to the bench, his eyes half-closed with what could be interpreted as relief of sorts. [/style]”You like that, dontcha?” she asked the small dragon. ”Vi…vi…vi…” he said, almost sleepily. Flicking his head upwards, the antenna between his eyes brushed the underside of his trainers wrist, tickling her slightly. She giggled a bit and pulled her hand back, turning to look at the marketplace closing up. The sun was beginning to set in the sky, painting it a brilliant array of reds and orange against the startlingly white clouds. Glancing upwards slightly, Alyssa noticed her white bangs falling in her eyes. …Egh. That won’t do… she thought with a half-frown. Pulling her red beanie off, she let her white ponytail fall out for the first time that day, revealed for the public eye. Not for long… Biting down on the rim of her beanie, the trainer made quick work of combing her fingers through her hair to make it neater and re-tying it in a high ponytail. She leaned forward to catch it within the hat before pulling the red-and-white item down to just about the level of her eyebrows, tucking her bangs beneath it so none of her hair was visible. That’s better… she thought, picking her head up and leaning back. Her hair had turned almost completely white within six years, from the age of ten to sixteen. Now, only the very tips of her hair remained brown. Six years had passed since it began bleaching white, but she hadn’t grown any fonder of it, and had taken to hiding it beneath her hat – no exceptions. She glanced at her Vibrava again before looking at the sunset and speaking. ”Hey, Vibrava..” ”Vi?” ”You know what tomorrow is, right?” ”Vi…vi-vibrava?” She smiled slightly, having close to no idea what he had actually said. ”No, that’s not it…” ”Brava, brava!?” The trainer laughed slightly. ”Tomorrow we head for Johto! Are you excited for it?” she looked down at her pokemon, who had begun hovering excitedly as he sensed the excitement in his trainer. ”Vi! Vi! Vi! Vi!” She laughed some before extending her arm to rest against the back of the bench, palm up. The Vibration pokemon flew up and landed lightly on her arm, looking at his trainer. ”I know I am…” she said, smiling and looking at him. ”That’s our next goal – all the gym badges from Johto! We’ve managed to clear Hoenn, Kanto, and the Orange Achipelago…but now we head for a new region. It’s like a new adventure!” Her pokemon cheered, causing her to giggle. Good to see him excited… Alyssa thought, smiling, before looking over at the Contest Hall, where she’d noticed a number of people gathering earlier. She assumed there was some contest or something. Truthfully it had made her curious, and she was losing her ability to push the curiosity away any longer. I don't want to get caught in that storm...time to move. she thought. Standing up, she kept her arm extended to hold Vibrava. Admittedly it was more difficult than she’d recalled, but she managed to keep her arm strong, despite the fact the pokemon weighed around thirty pounds. As though sensing his trainer’s discomfort, Vibrava took off lightly from her arm, hovering behind her as she made her way quickly across the ground, more to the eastern side of Slateport City. A few moments of walking, the voices of the contest fans faded more to background noise than anything, and she felt the burn of her curiosity fade out like a doused fire. She sighed a little and looked down, rubbing the back of her neck. Now she was at a loss for what she could do. She didn't want to be driven to the contest hall, that was for sure. However, she didnt want to just stand there like some weirdo in the middle of the stone street. Looking up, she let her cerulean eyes scan the area around her before something - or rather, someone - caught her attention. The flicker of a familiar memory ignited in her mind, and it took her a moment to recall precisely why the figure was familiar. It was then that her jaw dropped slightly. Was that…? No way… Alyssa leaned forward some to try to get a better view of the young man with his back to her. There was no way she could mistake the hair and what she could see of his clothes. Wallace! She had met him so many years ago, and seen him only a few times between then and now. Their last meeting...she knew had gone less than well, but years later, that didn't stop her from taking interest in the young man that had been her friend the many times she went with her father to Sootopolis as a young girl while he did business. She came up behind him silently, before placing her hands on the back of the bench behind him, Vibrava hovering close to silently behind her right shoulder. "How long has it been, Wallace?" she asked quietly with a small smile, not meaning to startle the blue-haired young man. "Four years now? Five?" Although there was the possibility for her to receive a cold shoulder for an unexplained reason again, she knew she wouldn't know if this time would be the same as last if she didn't try.
