The rhythmic sounds of crashing waves against the crimson stained shores were quickly silenced as the roar of three helicopters echoed through the area. They trailed along the shoreline in a V-formation, flying rather close to the ground as the pilots and soldiers at the exposed sides scanned the beach for any sign of life. Suddenly like a flash of lightning, a beam of white light ripped through the air, parting the water as it travelled above the water’s surface. Piercing the helicopter closet to the water at the cockpit, the screams of people inside it were quickly engulfed by the sound of an explosion as the machine burst into flames and scraps, the latter half of it spiralling out of control as it fell down into the sandy shore beneath it. Another explosion echoed out from the wreckage as the entire frame of the helicopter burst into flames upon impact, the waves of the water that washed up on it trying in vain to douse the intense flames out. ”What the hell was that!” One of the pilots screamed over the radio. ”A hyper beam?....Where?....Who?” Another replied in confusion. Almost answering the questions immediately, a dot appeared on their respective radars, accompanied by the appropriate audio indication as the dot moved with great speed towards them. ”What the-” One of the soldiers asked unconsciously, his gaze with the other two beside him looking out of the open hatch door to a silhouetted figure approaching towards them, the fading light of the sun behind its back masking its identity and hurting their eyes slightly. ”S-shit! I think it’s him…I-I think its L-Lance, the Dragon Master!” A soldier voiced out in alarm, his eyes locked on the now discernable shape of a dragonite, but more so on the torn crimson cape flapping behind the man on the dragonite’s back, flying like a banner of recognition and retribution to all those who knew its meaning. The chilled wind that kissed his skin caused his red locks to whip about wildly, mimicking his tattered cape in its bold movements. The rushing air colliding with his face caused Lance to close his crimson eyes slightly as they monitored the results of D’s Hyper Beam on the fallen metal carcass on the beach. A hand affectionately rubbed the yellow dragon on his neck, physically giving the pokemon a sense of approval at a job well done. However, the job was not yet complete and Lance’s attention shifted back to the remaining two helicopters in the air, the both of them rotating to face him. Crimson eyes narrowed in anticipation of what was to come. Released a second apart from each other and each helicopter launching one in turn, two missiles raced towards Lance with hostile intent. ”Evade them D and get me close to the helicopters.” A cool, calm voice spoke over the roar of the rushing wind, any trace of emotion void in the command Lance gave. Giving a roar in response, D accelerated slightly as he approached the oncoming missiles. Gripping around the yellow dragon’s neck, Lance braced himself and closed his eyes for what was about to happen. Tucking his wings in slightly and with a sudden burst of acceleration, D performed a barrel roll horizontally, his bulky body twisting and spiralling around the missiles at incredible speeds. Lance’s knuckles whiten as he desperately clenched to the dragon, the forces of physics and g-force threatening to simultaneously rip him off D’s back and compress the air out his lungs. Coming to a full rotation and back to his original position, D blazed onwards to the helicopters. Releasing his grip slightly Lance turned back towards the missiles, confirming that they were indeed curving around to follow their locked-on target once again. Good. He thought. ”Shit you missed him!” A soldier barked at the pilot, his eyes darting between the victim of his verbal onslaught and the dragonite heading towards them through the windscreen. Like a bolt of lightning a thought came to his mind, his eyes widening in realization. ”Pull this piece of crap up, damn it! That bastard wants the missiles to hit us!” The officer shouted, yanking the pilot by the shoulder in panic. Beads of sweats masking his face underneath the helmet, the pilot jerked the controls backwards as hard and quickly as he could, the helicopter violently jerking up and backwards, moving it narrowly out of D’s path as he flew underneath it, the missiles trailing a few feet behind him. Having fallen down due to the helicopters sudden movements, the two soldiers at the back of the pilot took a moment to examine themselves, then each other and finally the helicopter. A shout of jubilation filled the helicopter with pats on the back of the pilot and approving nods of delight at their close encounter with death. ”Where is Lance?” A voice over the radio from the other helicopter broke the celebration. Searching the skies for a moment, the pilot’s eyes finally picked up the dragon…and only the dragon. The caped man from before was no longer there as the dragon swooped in the air to shake off the missiles. ”Where did he go?” Hanging on the railing of the helicopter D had passed under; Lance pulled out a knife from his belt and placed it between his teeth before gripping the rail with his hand again. Having jumped off D while flying underneath the helicopter, Lance would use this moment of distraction to strike. Swinging himself to gain some momentum, Lance took a big swing and using the combination of momentum and his own upper body strength, swung himself through the open hatch door and into the helicopter. Frozen for a moment at the unexpected arrival of Lance sliding into the chopper, the soldiers inside couldn’t react in time as the red-haired male sprang up, the glint of his knife arching through the air followed by the screams of agony as the blade tore through a soldier’s Achilles heel. He wouldn’t scream for long though as Lance abruptly delivered a stiff kick to his back causing him to tumble out the entrance Lance had come in by. Finally aware of what was happening, the remaining soldier charged towards Lance, attempting to pin him down. Aware of the other’s presence, Lance spun on the balls of his feet, using his spiralling cape as a distraction and to mask his movements, similar to a matador redirecting a bull. Sidestepping the man a swift downward thrust planted the knife firmly into the back of the man’s neck, blood spilling almost immediately from the wound and his mouth as he dropped lifeless on the floor. Not wasting a moment Lance moved with venomous grace towards the pilot, a slit throat silencing him and causing him to slump back into his seat. Lance had to quickly grab the controls as the helicopter jerked for a moment due to the pilot’s death. Ignoring the questions and summons for a status report on the radio, Lance angled the helicopter towards the other. With a simple push of a button, another missile charged towards the other helicopter, its impact causing a deafening explosion and reducing the once metal avian to a flaming ball of meshed metal as it fell into a sandy grave. Scanning the skies, his eyes quickly located D, the dragon flying straight towards the remaining helicopter once again. With missiles still following him, D moved with blurring speed, his Extremespeed opening the distance between him and the missiles. Letting go off the controls and swiftly running out before the helicopter began moving violently, Lance leaped out the hatch door, cape flowing rapidly as he fell towards the ground. Suddenly his rapid descent seized, instead the wind blowing into his face once again as he soared through the skies in D’s arms. Another explosion rocked the air, the missiles from before meeting the spiralling helicopter. With an exasperated sigh Lance placed the bloody knife back into his belt pouch and climbed onto D’s back awkwardly once again. It was done, the eerie silence of a dead battlefield once again engulfing the city. Crimson eyes scanning over the fallen city, it moved down to his hand. A look of disgust painted the Dragon Master’s face as he stared at the red lifeblood on his hand. His gaze was without feeling, a silent curse escaped him as he wiped his hand on his cape, an action he had been doing a lot recently. How appropriate that his cape was crimson then, a testament of the blood he had begun to spill since that fateful day months ago. ”D let’s get out of here. There is nothing more we can do.” [/style] [style=font-family: arial; font-size: 9px; text-align: center; text-transform: uppercase;]TAGS, Kane as Alyssa NOTES, dragons vs helicopters, post-dragon den Lance CODED BY TSU DOLL OF LOVE STAMP.[/style] |
