[atrb=CellPadding,10,true][atrb=border,0,true] Blue remembered the Tentacruel incident very well. To be fair, Blue didn't think he'd be too hot around water types if he'd been grabbed by the foot by one and dragged underwater. He remembered very well how he'd felt so helpless, unable to dive in after Leaf and tackle the Tentacruel himself. If only... If only he'd actually had a Pokémon then. To think that the event had been entirely avoidable if he hadn't been attempting to impress her near a body of water. Why couldn't it have been a grassy route, or just outside his grandfather's lab? No use crying over spilled milk though. He wasn't the type to hold grudges and contrary to popular belief, Blue was actually a very forgiving person. Of course, he still held a competitive streak against Red when he booted him out of the Champion's seat in the Pokémon League. But thinking back, maybe it was a good thing that he wasn't sitting there in the Indigo League now. "I didn't mean it that way, Leaf," Blue insisted. He hadn't meant to make Leaf feel bad. This was one of the few times that he honestly hadn't meant to step on any toes. "It's just... Maybe if you're around them more, you'll feel better about them?" It definitely wasn't one of his genius plans and he had no intentions on carrying it out. But familiarization was one step towards overcoming a phobia, wasn't it? "You're not afraid of Neptune, are you? He's harmless too. Friendly giant." That was only half a lie. Neptune was harmless outside of battle or when his trainer wasn't being threatened. But besides that, the Blastoise was an incredibly competent fighter. After all, he'd been Blue's very first Pokémon and therefore had the most training under his belt. Maybe there were other ways to help Leaf come to terms with her phobia. There was always fishing. Blue always carried a Super Rod around with him. He didn't fish often, but it was one way to pass the time. In a sense, it was an old habit of his. He'd done a lot of fishing while traveling Kanto as the Ordinary Joe trainer. But maybe that would still be too much for her. Baby steps. That was the way to go, wasn't it? "Leaf, you're not wary around Neptune, are you?" he asked her as he reached for his belt. He unclipped a single Pokéball and tossed it into the air. In a burst of light, the large Blastoise appeared at his side as Blue caught the red and white capsule flawlessly. The Blastoise stretched his short arms and yawned before giving Leaf a sideways grin. "Been awhile since you've seen each other, yeah?" At that statement, the Blastoise gave a curt grunt as he idly scratched his chest. His water canons were facing upwards, away from Leaf since he knew that she was already quite skittish around water types. Blue patted the Blastoise's side. "Harmless. Wouldn't even hurt a Caterpie, would you, Neptune?" At that, the shellfish Pokémon raised a brow as he tried to figure out what was up with Blue and Leaf. But by the conversation, he got a pretty good idea at what he was getting at. So the Blastoise nodded and grinned at Leaf again, offering out his paw for a good shake. |
