This place, the stadium, the people all seemed to be calling to him, the wind whispering to him this is where you belong as it nipped at his face. In the midst of it all, Gold was dimly aware that there was even a war raging on outside but rather, found himself warming up to this feeling that things were finally going back to way they used to be, the way they should have been from the very beginning - normality was a concept so far'fetched at this point that the question of whether or not this was real still dwelt in the far corners of his mind, surfacing now and again to haunt his being. He was almost sorry that things were regressing to mindless violence in a mere few weeks time. Had it not been for the fact that there were people in his home region that didn't get to experience the same luxuries he would've been content to stay here, away from all the death and endless cycles of destruction. But even as he thought such thoughts the revulsion rose up in his mouth and the bitter taste choked him, making him come to realization that he would look back on this as nothing more than a dream when it was over, a dream that was more impossible than the dream of a brighter future ahead. Gold shook his head suddenly, making swift jerking motions as he emptied his head of those thoughts and let his eyes wander to the familiar battlefield, a rigid white line in the middle that marked the beginning of his opponent's side. He had to live in the present, enjoy the moment for what it was because it was doubtful that such times would come again for a long while, if ever. One foot stepped out onto the stadium and at once the crowd sprang to life, the warm glow of sun reflecting off the goggle propped on his head. The trainer stood there for a moment, listening to the load shouts of excitement echo around the stadium while fingering for a pokeball by his side, the other five fingers drumming idly by his side. Hand curled around sphere as his arm raised itself into the air, tossing the object almost lazily. "Ready for this?" He murmured, picturing the broad wingspan of the green-white bird without even opening his eyes to see. A squawk filled the air and the crowd swallowed it in an instant, the last echoes fading as Gold opened his eyes with a snap. There wasn't long to wait now: his instinct told him that much. As if his thoughts were a cue, movement flickered in the corners of his vision and from the opposing end a figure moved into the spotlight, sharing it with him. Momentarily the expression on his face creased into a silent frown, observing the man in front of him with more curiosity than hostility. There was something about this man that struck him as off, but with as little evidence as he had such an assumption was unreasonable. So he raised his hand and gave a wide wave. "Hey." He called out, stepping back to let Oracle take the lead. "Name's Gold. Looking forward to battling you." Then he stepped back, waiting for the first move. This was the way things were supposed to be. [/style]
