[atrb=width,500][cs=2] THE PREDICAMENT SUNNY / HUMID / NEWS UPDATE LUX DESTROYS HOENN ISLAND On July twenty-ninth, at approximately 16:42, a blast rocked the southern portion of Hoenn, churning waves higher than even the summer storms force the tides. The reason and cause of the blast remained uncertain at first, but after thorough investigation it has been revealed that the blast was a bomb dropped on a small, unnamed island a few miles off-coast of Dewford. While the already-damaged city itself remained unharmed, the island targeted for reasons unknown was decimated, leaving only a small lump of sand where flora and fauna once stood for a quarter-mile in each direction. At this moment, there have been no reports of survivors in the following aftermath, but luckily the island was largely unpopulated by humans. The most of the residents of the island, however, were pokemon. Seeing as no Nox in their right mind would attack Hoenn where their force is rising, the finger points rather quickly to Lux, and much more can be expected from those tyrants. Lux dropped the bomb (literally) in hopes of deterring the Nox movement, which has been steadily rising since the victories of Lilycove and Slateport. ”We’re lucky that the island was mostly uninhabited by people,” says Leader Alyssa Akiyama, ”...but the loss of pokemon and important plant life is irreplacable. The island was valuable to Hoenn’s diverse population, and it is an unignorable attack from Lux on our soil. They will regret the day they ever tried to harm this region and disrupt the way of life that had been here for generations.” Although it is not a fact someone would normally focus on after the impact of a bomb detonation, the impact of this destruction on the ecology of the Hoenn region is a terrible blow to the scientists and professors alike. The island contained rather uncommon pokemon and plants, dealing a blow to the biodiversity of the region. Perhaps the worst strike to the ecology is that the island was one of the three places in the Hoenn Region – possibly the world – that Salac Berries can be found. On the other end of the spectrum, there is only rage for Lux’s actions rather than remorse for what has been lost. As stated very clearly by Leader Terran Sunderland, "This is an outrage. If they truly had any concern for this region they wouldn't be detonating bombs right next to it. Open your eyes, Hoenn: Lux has abandoned you. We can only hope to stop them before it is too late." With this attack, Lux’s reputation has plummeted even further in the Hoenn region. And Lux said Nox were the terrorists. |
