A Call to Action: Taking the Offensive

TO ALL NOX AFFILIATED WITH HOENN:

Let me open with saying that I understand that, in the past, we have not had the best relations. You may know me as a dangerous radical with ridiculous, lunatic beliefs. You may hate me for it. But that was the past, and this is the now. I've learned from my mistakes, and if this letter has reached your hands, then you have no room to point fingers. Like it or not, you are a rebel. You are a radical. You have turned against law and order for the sake of your beliefs.

I am not going to say that is wrong in the slightest. In fact, I've done the same thing myself, and I laud you for doing so. By stating this, I am merely pointing out that we are not so different. Let us put aside any petty differences and focus on the greater task at hand: Lux.

For two years now they've been on our land, taking our resources and telling us how to live. I refuse to tolerate this sort of thing. I am not going to give up the Pokemon that I've earned, nor am I going to sit back and allow my family to be threatened by their oppression and tyranny. It's time we fight back. The time to act is now, before Lux gets a chance to invade.

Our target is Fallarbor. Supply lines run through there all the time. Resources can easily be gained through an offensive, and we have more than enough manpower to overthrow any soldiers stationed there. However, for safety measures, we will require some units to slip into the town and cut communications between Fallarbor and Rustboro. That should prevent unwanted visitors.

The rest will charge the supply lines. The intent is to get as many of Fallarbor's harvest as possible without damaging the crop. Anyone who stands in our way must be terminated. Show no mercy--this is war, and those supplies are essential. The food acquired from this raid will not only cause damage to Lux, but will be used to feed our civilians in Slateport as well as our brave soldiers fighting out on the field.

I ask only for your support and cooperation in this endeavor. In the end, it will benefit a cause that we all support. You claim you're a bunch of brave warriors who oppose the tyrannical rule of Lux. Prove it! Show me your worth!

SO YEAH. Skirmish thread on Fallarbor. C'mon, Nox, let's fuck shit up. Post here if interested, either as a Lux soldier stationed at Fallarbor to ensure that the supply lines go through, or as a Nox soldier willing to answer Courtney's call to action.

You guys want Nox to get an advantage? I'm pushing for it. Let's do this. Let's make it happen.

ALL RIGHT SO:

Offensive people will strike head-on, the stealth from behind AFTER they're done cutting the lines, and we trap them, aye? Give them nowhere to run. NO ESCAPE. With luck, they'll surrender and we can take some hostages because honestly why kill them when you can get information and money out of them first. The main aim is the supplies, though, so be sure to not damage those. If we destroy the supply lines, then this entire mission is moot. There's a chance that Lux might sense this and destroy the supplies themselves. This must not happen.

I figure that the stealth unit will go in first and cut the lines. Then Falkner will send one of his flying Pokemon up to the others to give the offensive group the signal that it's safe to charge. Also, groups? I figure two or three for stealth group, and up to five for the offensive. I shall make a list of them.

Terran didn't want to fight at first. He thought this would be a fight winnable by propaganda and protest. But Lux has been encroaching on the land of Hoenn for too long, and he has had enough! This is HIS home, and he will NOT allow it to fall under the sway of such tyranny!

So count Terran in for joining his old Magma allies on the front lines. With a Torterra built like an armored personnel carrier and a Flygon providing death form above, he's ready to rock and roll.

Anyway, just going to point out some concerns because this will "make Nox look bad."

I mean, it's normal for shit like this to happen in times of war. Only Lux can be plastic enough to make themselves look like a bunch of saints while killing people behind the scenes. For some people, Nox is quite more trustworthy because they're honest - but still dangerous but anyway.

Okay so we'll be taking down the soldiers stationed there and cut off communications.

I hope you were able to read the underlined part in the quote.

As for the rest, that could be Courtney's IC reason but I think Wallace and a few others might...improvise on the plan. I'm gonna try merging some OOC and IC stuffs here so it looks nice. Basically, Wallace won't like this plan. Rather, he would ask that they pay the folks for their crops and even help them. Or whatever compromise we can make. Courtney can be forceful - showing that strict side of Nox - but Wallace won't likely agree. But yeah, I think I solved how this is making Nox look bad? Basically you don't judge if a plot idea will make Nox look good or bad - you have your characters decide then it would make sense and be better acceptable. The OOC need to improve Nox's reputation has to translate IC. Let's not forget that especially since Nox does have to resort to these kind of tactics a lot.

Seems you need another sneak person. Turns out, Navitas will be passing through Fallabor to get to Mauville, and when he accidentally runs into a Nox operation, he will most likely be forced to serve his civic duty no matter how many times he whines and tries to get out of it. Also because I'm his evil puppet master so what I say goes damn it, and I say he's gonna serve his country like a man.

That is, if you'll allow him to. Also he has guns to give away and stuff, if you want them.

I'm also assuming that because it's winter, the fields are going to be pretty bare, covered in snow, etc. Who grows crops in winter anyway? I figure the rest of the harvest is there, and ready to be exported at any time, and might start being exported soon. Depends: if any mods are reading, would Fallarbor be under two feet of snow at this point and would all the crops be dead or harvested already? If that's the case, then any concerns about starving Hoenn are (mostly) null and void because nothing grows in winter.

I figure we'll go along with this anyway, because face it, Nox isn't perfect. Olivine City ringing any bells? Yeah, I can't say for sure, but I bet that Olivine was actually BETTER OFF when Lux was controlling it, and I bet a lot of the citizens of Olivine agree. That's why I sent in Byron to rebuild houses destroyed in the battle.

But this is a clear act of war. I should have mentioned that Courtney is going cut-throat and is intentionally trying to cut off supply lines to certain Lux-controlled cities in Hoenn. Starving Rustboro, Lavaridge, Sootopolis, and ESPECIALLY Evergrande is a desired outcome for Courtney. At the very least, it would put Lux into a position where they have to barter for Fallarbor's resources, or scrape to pull together rations for its Hoenn cities. And this, my friends, is something that has been used in actual wars. The Mongols once sat outside a major city in China that they knew they couldn't attack and basically prevented those people from getting food. When they finally finished cutting off trade lines, the people there were so sick and hungry that it was essentially an easy victory.

That's what Courtney's aiming for: make Lux suffer, and be ruthless about it, so that she can then go around with her band of rebels and take Hoenn by storm. She's not thinking about Nox's image. She's thinking about how she can make those bastards on the other side hurt. If you want me to go through and consider "the most diplomatic way to go about it", then it'll be another character that will have to worry about it.

As Tanz said as well, Lux is the one that's about appearances and superficiality. Nox, however, is about guerrilla warfare, and I just took a page out of Genghis Khan's book.

However, I am going to suggest a planning thread beforehand, an IC one, so that everyone can talk about it. That way the characters themselves can get ideas out, and everyone can go over the plan. Everyone cool with that idea?

EDIT: I'm not sure if Shamees, Black, and Roxanne being there would be a good idea, but mentions of the disease outbreak could also work. If they are there, on one hand, Courtney would call it off in order to 1) avoid Tanz having to selfcest and 2) avoid tangling with a fucking Sentinel. But on the other hand, the whole "Kidnap the President" thing can come into play and a hostage situation could happen. Idk, I need ideas, someone else come up with them.

This entire post was the result of mulling this over for some time. If anyone has any better ideas or improvements regarding this, throw them out there.
