TRIGGER WARNING: Graphic violence
A crowd of reporters and civilians had gathered in the briefing room of Vermillion City's main military base. Most of them were still taking their seats as the loud chatter filling the room made it difficult for one persons voice to be heard over anyone elses. In the back a the room, a row of cameras on tall stands were lined up with the lens aimed directly at the stage and a tall brown podium where a someone would be coming out in a few moments to speak, or so it had been assumed.
Suddenly a tall middle aged man appeared from a doorway at the far side of the stage. As he appeared, a small applause from the audience could be heard. As the man walked towards the podium it got louder and only began to die down as he reached the podium, and turned to face the crowd. General Hugo Rask waited a few moments before he began to speak, and while waiting, he adjusted the microphone attached to the podium to make it easier to speak into.
When the applause had died down, the general said in a casual tone, "Good afternoon everyone, thank you for coming out today. I think I speak for every member of our military when I say how much this city means to the Lux organization, and that abandoning it, and all of the wonderful people who live here, would be an unthinkable proposition."
General Rask paused for a moment before continuing
"I'd like to begin with a plain and simple affirmation that we remain committed to the safety and security of our citizens here in Vermilion City, and no encroachments on our territory nor seizure of our ports, and islands by terrorists and rebels will intimidate us into backing down. In the face of such provocations our resolve is only strengthened, and our determination only hardened, that we will see this fight through to the end, and that we will not rest until this rebellion is permanently put down."
What Hugo's statement was centered on of course, was Nox's recent seizure of the Seafoam Islands. The loss of the islands had come as quite a shock to most of the higher ups in Lux, but to many of the locals in Vermilion City, the news was nearly enough of an excuse to his the panic button. After all it made perfect sense for Vermilion to be Nox's next objective. As such, Hugo had deemed it necessary to travel to Vermilion City to directly affirm to the people of the city, that Lux would stand by them to the very end.
On that note, General Rask now said, "Now that I've said that, I'd like to go to a few of your questions." As he finished this short sentence, he looked around the room to decide who he would pick first to answer a question.
