“Three weeks ago, just outside of Lavender Town, soldiers under your command ambushed a caravan suspected of transporting illegal contraband, killing 13 civilians. Your mandate is to deal with insurgents quietly.”
General Rask’s words spewed from his mouth like venom as he glared across the room at the person he was talking to. The person in question was a man by the name of Colonel Ise, a popular but reckless soldier who apparently had no qualms about getting blood on his hands in order to impose Lux’s will on the general population. Needless to say, the General did not agree with such tactics, and as such had summoned him to Indigo Plateau in order to reprimand, and punish him. He was seated in a chair at the center of a very large table and on both sides of him sat a number of other high-ranking Lux military officers who had come to debate the matter of how to punish to Colonel. In the audience, sat a variety of other Lux officials and civilians who had come to watch what was about to happen.
In response to General Rask’s words, the Colonel responded, “I am aware of that.” In such a smug tone as to suggest a lack of respect for the Lux Chief of Staff, and his authority. If the General had his way, he would discharge Ise right then and there. However for reasons that he couldn’t possibly fathom, the Colonel was quite popular among his men, and morale would sink if he took such an action. As of right now he could only use threats and reprimands to get his point across, which was what he was about to continue as he opened a file and took out a few papers. The General then said, “And then there’s the use of this agent, a Mr. M. Cassius.” The general paused for a few seconds before continuing in a disgusted tone, “13 human rights violations. Rapes, tortures, kidnappings!”
The Colonel was obviously unmoved by all of this as he quickly posed a question to Hugo, “Tell me something, ‘General’ Rask do you have children?” The General was taken aback by the question but quickly regained his composure, and said in a stern tone, “I’m not the one being reviewed here.” Ise shrugged and continued, “Then I will assume you do not. Perhaps, if you had children, you would behave in a manner that was more conducive to the longevity of this regime. I understand that it is not the preferred fashion to think and to act as I do, I understand that perfectly. But when they come for our children, and our children’s children, it won’t be diplomacy and hesitation that keep the rebels at bay; it will be tactics and maneuvers like the ones I use!”
Still disgusted by what the Colonel was saying, Hugo said, “I’ve heard enough! This is your final warning, any further unauthorized actions, and you will be removed from your post.” Picking up, and looking at the papers in the file that he’d just opened, the General then said, “And lets discharge this, ‘Agent Cassius’ permanently. All in favor?” As Hugo finished speaking he looked around the room and was pleased to see that all of the other officers in the room had raised their hands in agreement, as the General continued, “Good. Effective immediately.” The General then closed the file as he picked up another piece of paper and signed off on the discharge order, he then stapled it to the front of the file, and then let out a sigh. Finally it was over. He never liked going through stuff like that.
