Salty beads of water splashed upward like a streaming fountain, reaching even Shamees' arms as he scaled halfway through the volcano. They prickled his stone-cold skin like ice as the wind dangerously swept past him. The wind howled in his ears except his red scarf had been folded to mask his entire head and mouth. He felt the cloth ripple on his head when the wind threatened to throw him in the dark abyss where the mouth of the sea with its rock jagged teeth waited and the waves flopped like a hungrily licking tongue. He didn't press himself to the wall. With no precaution, he relentlessly continued climbing, digging his fingers on the rock, pulling himself up while finding a safe leverage for his feet. They were almost impossible to see in the darkness but Shamees' trained eyes could make out the shapes just fine. Knowing where the rocks were didn't make it any safer for him. The rock he held on shattered, its miniscule parts falling into the sea without even a sound. He heard the waves boomed beneath him but he was not intimidated. Shamees adeptly moved his left foot up and made haste to grab another. Just as he was almost there, the rocks beneath both his feet shattered instantly. Shamees threw his hand up and grabbed the edge of the crater, leaving his feet to dangle fifty feet in the air. He didn't panic. He reached for the edge with his other hand and slowly pulled himself up. He scanned the area first before heaving himself completely and safely landing on the ground on his two feet. It was almost empty and isolated up the crater surrounding the city. The first line of defense for Nox had been here but Lux had been able to break through eventually. Almost twenty-four hours have passed and the fight was condensed outside the Cave of Origins where their troops were struggling against aerial and water combat. If this went on, they might have to pull back to regroup. He would have to infiltrate the cave and push from there. Going alone was suicidal but Shamees have always ended with the dangerous tasks mostly because he would rather not join combat where cooperation was involved. Being a one-man team was his ideal choice. But he wasn't truly alone. He shortly met up with Kanya and they both crouched behind an empty pile of wooden boxes. While he was more than physically capable, Pokemon of course exceeded the human body. The Mienshao had gone ahead to scout the area while Mith and Una were tasked to plant bombs in the city. The twins haven't returned. Tula and Vrscika were lurking with them, their presences hidden and ghostly form unseen. Shamees took out Sprout's golden, razor-sharp blade from his belt wordlessly. Someone was coming. Two. By the volume of their voices, they were walking up from the stairs ten feet from them. “Split up and check some weapons we can still use,” he heard a man's voice say. Shamees gestured to Kanya. She take care of the one going to their direction and Shamees on the other. “Don't let your guard down,” the voice continued. Even by the Nox's slightest movement, Shamees could hear the rustling of guns. They were armed. They listened to their footsteps. Kanya tensed her muscles and Shamees prepared to sprint. On his signal, they jumped out of their hiding spot at once. Kanya's movement was a blur that the man didn't even get to raise his gun. She twisted in the air and landed a High Jump Kick on his neck. A disgusting bone snapped and Kanya twisted again to knock the crumpling figure to the sea. Shamees dashed past Kanya, the blade already up the woman's neck even before she heard the disturbance and turned too late. He bashed a hand to cup her mouth while he slit her neck with the blade. There was a faint, muffled scream but death cut her, silencing her forever. Shamees grabbed her wrist so that blood spilling from her neck leave no evidence but something caught his attention. A plain silver ring glistened on her ring finger. “........” He felt Kanya look at him impatiently. Shamees pulled the ring out and gently set it on the ground. He proceeded to throw the woman off the crater and down to the sea where her fall, just like the rocks, made no sound. He nodded to Kanya and they proceeded, leaving the single piece of evidence, the ring, in the place where the woman was killed. With a little bit of strange sympathy.
