While the worst of the fighting had taken part outside of the city, the Nox and Lux forces clashing in jagged waves of battle, the city had not been entirely spared. Still, the destruction here was lesser than most other battlefields could boast. And besides, this was Sinnoh, Cynthia's territory. What was he doing here, so far from his station and responsibilities in Hoenn? Because, there was a face he could not remove from his mind. It haunted his dreams, and bled into his waking hours. The soft black hair, the blue eyes endlessly shimmering, full of a passionate fury that touched Xander's core and stirred a fire deep inside of him. Idly, he wished that the cold and bitter climate of Snowpoint could quench that fire. But alas, it had begun burning here, on the field of battle. His salvation was not to be found. But perhaps he was not the only sufferer. Behind him, as he had often heard in his dreams, was the sound of footsteps. Even knowing what he would see before he turned, Xander could not help the startled gasp that emerged from him. The object of his obsession, the Nox member called Cecil. His enemy, his beloved. "I didn't expect to see you again," Xander said, with a pang in his heart. Ah, the furious waves of emotion that rose and fell within him! He disagreed with all of the man's foolish ideals, found his personality to be a cause of much wrath, and had done his utmost to defeat him for Lux's cause. Yet he could not repress the swelling urge of lust. "I felt...a compulsion." Cecil said, his eyes averted to the ground. As if he were ashamed to meet Xander's eyes. "I believe in Nox's cause. Yet at times...I cannot tell if my feelings for Lux...my feelings for you...are hatred or....something else." Xander took a half step forward involuntarily. "Say no more," he murmured. "I know the barriers that separate us. We cannot--shh, my love, I know this to be true--and do not love each other more than our ideals. But while in the outside world we are different men, men with duties...here, we are not those men. We are merely lovers, loving in the name of love." Cecil finally brought his gaze to bear on Xander. If only for those shimmering aqua pools to forever be locked to his! "If you too know of what I feel," Cecil said. "Then show me." The last reluctance falling away, Xander blitzed forward, burying the other man in a deep embrace. As if by long ordained fate, his mouth found Cecil's, his fingers tangling in that night black mane. Together they fell to the ground, and in the cold of Snowpoint, in the cold of the war, made a place of love and warmth.[/style] |
