THE TRUTH COMES OUT IN THE BREAKDOWNS

River watched as the Lucario easily dodged Tex's Thunderwave. She bit her lip. So much for things being easy. This Pokemon was obviously well trained - and quick. It flipped to a corner of the room, producing a Pokeball that had been hidden and kicking it roughly into the air. It hit the ceiling, ricocheting down and bursting open to let loose a Slowking - a very pissed off Slowking. A sudden chill went down River's spine, and it had nothing to do with her irritation. A Mismagius had appeared, and it did not seem to be attacking. One of Griff's Pokemon, perhaps? River nodded toward it, then turned her attention back to the task at hand.
It was getting fucking crowded in here.
"Agility, then Thunderbolt, Tex. Focus on the Lucario." River commanded, her voice even as though discussing a dropping of stocks with a fellow civilian, "Mimagius, stay on the Slowking." If she remembered correctly, they were weak to ghost-type attacks. Of course, River had no idea what type of moves the Mimagius knew, but hopefully it would have enough sense to be able to attack on its own.
Before River could hiss out another order, the Lucario attack, drawing power to its chest then releasing a sphere. River swore and dove out of the way, rolling with the motion and landing in a crouch. She glanced over her shoulder in time to see Tex get hit square on, knocked backward to slam against the locked door. He shook his head, letting lose a mocking taunt, then burst forward in a rush of speed, using Agility to get closer to the Lucario. Tex skidded to a halt, sticking his tongue out at his serious opponent and releasing a Thunderbolt that lit up the room. Lightbulbs in the ceiling burst with the power, leaving only a few with enough faltering glow to light the room.
Meanwhile, the Mimagius floated shyly over the Slowking, murmuring to himself a Nasty Plot. Oh, how delightful this would be! The excitement of his delicious plan upped his special attack, and when he released a Shadow Ball, it was slightly larger then typical for the ghost Pokemon.
While the Pokemon battled, chipping away at the cheap plaster walls and knocking tiles loose from the ceiling, River creeped toward the safe, Zell at her back with fangs open, ready to attack any Pokemon fool enough to attack while she was on guard. At last her fingers brushed against cool metal. Originally River'd had a plan for breaking into the safe discretely, but obviously, the time for being discrete was long gone.
"Acid Spray, Zell," River asked, and the Arbok turned long enough to spit a spray of acid smack in the middle of the safe door. She gave a pleased smirk, then turned back to watch her friends duke it out, slightly jealous she couldn't take part in the action too. River carefully reached inside, not too keen on the thought of getting her arm destroyed by a stray drip of Zell's acid. Her hands closed around a blank manila folder and she drew it to her chest.
Time to get out of here, before things started to really go downhill.
