[cs=2] Meet Shamees, the chirpiest, most youthful single man you'll ever find alive. Animated and energetic, it's hard not to catch him smiling as if life is all rainbows and unicorns. Still, he's rather elusive, extremely random, and most of the time just unpredictable. He makes jokes with the same tone he uses to make serious statements, making it difficult to trust his word about anything. With his kind of behavior and sparkly, over-the-top bishie looks, it's eyebrow-jumping to learn that Shamees is actually a veteran soldier born from a military family and clan, specializing in hand-to-hand combat, survival and firearms, and is extensively trained in tactics and military science. Also versatile, Shamees has successfully guarded his last client against assassination attempts and conducted espionage on behalf of his employer. In truth, his bubbly and pleasant persona is just a cover (or a self-defense mechanism if Shamees were to word it accurately) for the darker, mistrustful, war-weary, despondent man he really is who's resigned to fate in response to the hopelessness of the world. In one alter-ego, he exaggerates emotions, in the other, he rejects them, all to protect himself from...himself. Contrary to what most people perceive of his attitude, he didn't lose hope because he'd seen so many terrible, ghastly things in life. It's because he'd seen so many good people fall for the sake of ethics and codes and despite the lives sacrificed - lives he saw spent like coins, man is no step further in changing. Cycles repeat like the precipitation and condensation of rain. It's natural and uncontrollable. No matter what choices people make, nothing adds up in the end. But Shamees has always been a rather stubborn man deep inside. His eyes might be shrouded by darkness right now but his heart has always beat on the right tune. He never questions orders or the authority as what soldiers were supposed to be, but he always rebel in his thoughts. He unconsciously thinks and does things to relieve anger and frustration of what he's forced to do. Though in the end, Shamees doesn't always do the right thing (for various, complicated reasons mostly related to work), he always means well. Even against people he doesn't like (okay, he doesn't like too many people), Shamees always stands to be fair - from his point of view anyway. He sometimes hold grudges and can be really difficult and intolerable to deal with but between life and death, Shamees doesn't think twice about it. Those in the battlefield know too much of the preciousness of life to leave behind a despicable person to waste away and rot. But don't start thinking he's a good person to lean on. These are all his personal feelings and Shamees sets them aside a LOT. Kill one and only girlfriend to save hundreds of lives? That's a no-brainer. It has to be done. But remember that stubborn part of Shamees? He'll try to do the impossible sometimes. He knows how to compromise with himself, after all. |
