Upon spotting the first signs of an approaching rest stop for travelers, Arthur abruptly decided that it was far past time for a break. A lunch break. A bathroom break. A sanity break. All of the above really, but the last one most of all. So, with a tired smile rising to replace the bored frown hidden behind the untinted visor of his helmet, green eyes started to sweep back and forth across the Route, from treeline to treeline, looking for the no doubt even bumpier path he'd need to pull off on with his motorcycle so that he might shut it down and give them both a nice long rest. Several minutes later, he nearly missed it.
A spike of pain shot up his legs the moment Arthur's feet hit the dirt, and the blond courier groaned before arching his back, winding his arms high above his head to the sound of multiple pops. There were only a couple other travelers sharing the rest stop with him, but even as he watched they appeared to be readying their packs with straps and zippers to leave, so after experiencing a flicker of envy, he ignored them. Traveling via motorcycle might have been less physically exhausting to him than when he was on a bicycle or on foot, but mentally, he did tend to tire a little faster with nothing to do but drive and drive and drive some more, alone, for the most part. No time to enjoy the sighs, or train his Pokemon against whatever might have tried to test it's luck were he moving at a slower, less intimidating pace. But this time, he had a 'deliver by' date to stick to for the package behind his seat, so he had to do it the boring way.
"Alright then," Arthur exhaled loudly in the forest clearing, ripping off his helmet and throwing it with his arms down while slumping slightly as he forcefully expelled as much of the built-up tension from his body as he could. His dark green gaze moved to one of the nearest wooden benches with obvious interest , but once he started walking again, he dodged around it and into the brush to take care of business. Upon returning to the open a minute later, he unstrapped one of the bags from his bike and then claimed the bench, dropping into it and then swinging his legs across the rest of the avaliable space. He rubbed at an ache in his right knee with a momentary scowl, but brightened once he remembered his pack and pulled it to his lap to open. Sandwiches, water, berries... Just one thing was missing.
Company. Another difficulty when he was atop his motorcycle.
The blond tilted himself so that he could work his one free hand awkwardly to the Pokeballs attached to the other side of his belt, and pulled one from the lot before activating it. There was a flash of white and red light as Nike realized with an eager cry, << Zuuuu! >> Zubat fluttered back and forth around the clearing wildly as Arthur pretended to ignore her and retrieved food and water from his bag, but when she deemed the area fully explored, the unusually tiny bat dove down to his shoulder and found a berry already waiting. The happy screech she released right into Arthur's right ear before she attacked the juicy snack made him wince.
"Now was that really neccessary?" Arthur shook his head with a snort while uncapping his water. "Won't have to waste much time teaching you Screech." He took a long drink from the lukewarm water in his bottle as his newest capture squeaked agreement in his ears, thankfully much more softly. The boy rolled his eyes in bemusement once he'd lowered his drink, then set it between his legs so that he could get to his sandwich. Briefly his eyes touched the corners of the clearing, and he wondered how far that cry might have traveled, and who or what might have heard.
