FULL NAME Devin Marie Arquette Models under the name Devin Delaveaux BACKGROUND Born in Goldenrod twenty two years ago, Devin immediately found herself plunged into a world of expectations and disappointments. Her parents gave birth to her older brother, Dante, before rushing into marriage. They also rushed into conversion, joining the Holy Trio cult. The marriage turned out stable, but their position within the cult was less so. Due to their earlier lifestyle, including their pre-marital pregnancy, they were not exactly welcomed into the fold. With her father working as a janitor and her mother taking on low level part time jobs between raising the children, the family couldn't afford to pay tithes either, which did nothing to further their social standing. There was immense pressure on the children to make up for their parents' choices. Much of their hope rested on Devin's brother, Dante,who was pious and able to withstand many rituals often undertaken by older children. Their parents wanted him to become one of the famed few who could withstand more than the usual punishment- the ones who outright mutilated themselves in acts of devotion. And then- Dillon was born. And everything changed. No longer could Devin look up to her brother, the future martyr, because everything was now focused on her younger brother. Dillon's birth was complicated, and led to hydrocephaly. He was left with permanent damage, leaving him moderately mentally impaired- unlikely to ever have a mental capacity beyond that of a 6 year old. The idea of maintaining two children unable to care for their own basic needs did not appeal, and Dante was pushed back from the path he'd originally been set on. No longer was her brother a hero in the making- now, he was another example of how the Arquette family backed down from their commitments. He was another blemish of shame on the family name, as was her disabled brother. Devin was the only member of the family not cast to the fringes of the society, and even so, her position was precarious. And it didn't end there. Of course not, this is PRE, remember? So after Devin had finally accepted their murky, vague status on the outskirts of the cult but still miles above those 'Outsiders' who didn't even worship the right gods, her brother nearly got them all thrown out entirely. Dante was caught sleeping with a girl- who wasn't married to him nor part of the cult- and worse yet, who was a feminist and wore the pants- and Devin's world came crashing down around her ears. There was a trial of faith, interviews with the community, an attempted intervention... Devin saw and participated in none of it. A model scouted her on a rare shopping trip, she signed papers on the spot, packed, and hauled ass before the circus could really get started. After years of living in the 'real world', Devin disdains everything related to the holy trio. She joined Lux to try to stamp them out. After all, the cult are loyal only to their own leaders, and Lux doesn't deal well with rebellion, so she's sure eventually the opportunity will arise to push Lux to restrict or disband them. She doesn't hide her past growing up in their community, but she's loath to talk about it or even make her extensive knowledge of the cult available to other Lux. There are those who think perhaps her drinking and other dabbling are ways of avoiding even the memories of her time in the cult. As to her position in Lux? Originally a recruiter, she's now also an information gatherer, helping to coordinate spies. Devin is great at her job- when she's sober. Lately those moments are few and far between. She's dogged with both an addictive personality, and an eating disorder- one of the many examples of a character suffering PRE's lack of therapists. OCCUPATION Lass. Yeah, she's a little old, but it's what she wrote down and no one wanted to argue it with her. ALLEGIANCE Firmly devoted to Lux. And not just because she hopes that, with their intolerance for those who aren't loyal to Lux first, perhaps they'll oppose or destroy the cult. TRAITS |

She wants to do her duty, and eliminate the trio cult. Not traipse around getting shot at or otherwise at risk of harm. Life's too short to waste it dodging bullets ▪ Fire types. They're so fickle and she can't deal with their tempers. ▪ Clingy romantic types |
SECRETS: ▪ She made herself puke once- on her 17th birthday, the first one since her brother's banishing. It grossed her out too much to ever try it again, and she turned to alcohol and anorexia instead. And then drugs. ▪ She walked in on her brother once, well before their parents caught him. Didn't say a thing, and assumed he'd have the sense to be more careful. She was wrong. Granted he realized their house was a bad place to toy around with letting his girlfriend truss him up and suspend him from the ceiling, but using a holy building during mid afternoon was even worse. ▪ The first time she tried coke it was laced with something, and she hallucinated a talk with Suicine. ▪ She misses modeling, despite all her snarky comments about how time consuming and insipid it was. ▪ She's had an abortion. |
