Technology.. just as unreliable as people sometimes. Wandering the countryside in search of a replacement set of pokegear wasn't exactly at the top of Tobias' list of things to do. If it weren't for the constant necessity of being called for duty at any given time, the guerrilla would have no business keeping a phone. The contact he had with Nox was a strained system of forwarded dials and hidden numbers, leaving no tracing entries in his cell history for any Lux operatives to use to their advantage. At the same time, Tobias was in a tight spot for the time being--without a working phone came no orders. Without any way to receive those orders or alert other agents at Nox of his predicament, he would more than likely be assumed AWOL or KIA. Neither of which he would dare let them wipe him from the books for. It was only hours ago that he'd had the battle, fending off a ragged duo of Manectric that charged and attacked him on his way through the outer forests of Lake Verity. Avoiding contact with the Lux settlements wasn't the difficult part until he ventured too close to a hiding ground for Manectric packs, and only after fighting his way out of the area did he realize that his phone had been broken during the conflict. Hopelessly from there, without knowing where he was headed without any kind of GPS or map to guide himself, Tobias was sent barreling across the many war-torn ruins of Sinnoh in hopes of finding a stronghold held by Nox with some manner of repairs or replacement available for his phone. Figures, just his luck. It wouldn't take too long to find at least someone to offer him directions, but following the roads between each city appeared to be doing him just fine. The young man's trip continued on for hours, lasting well into the night as he continued making his way through the dark countryside even as the night ended and morning soon came. Now tired, slightly injured, frustrated and lacking much patience, Tobias continued well into the rural town of Floaroma at the day's noon, stopping for a rest that his Arcanine surely needed from the traveling distance through the unknown wilderness. Sitting beneath a tall tree to hide from the blazing sun overhead, the white-haired young man rested against the trunk to take in what little ease the cool late summer breeze could give him. Hel, his loyal Arcanine wandered over to the small pond just a few dozen feet away, drinking in all it could and leaping about like an excited puppy playing in a puddle for the first time. Traveling on such little rest wasn't healthy for either of them, but Tobias' stubborn attitude would always make it hard on his companions when there were battles waiting to be fought and he waited further instruction. As the day's time passed, the young man let his exhaustion get the better of him, quickly blacking out asleep while sitting to rest against that tree. Hel then noticing his master had passed out, then taking the time to quietly wander off in search of some food. Tobias's bruises and scrapes were little to worry for, but his pokemon wandering off and his lacking attentiveness for the place he'd wandered to wouldn't go unpunished later. Now in a deep enough sleep to rival the dead, the white-haired guerrilla sat motionless beneath the bright green canopy of leaves, the summer air was almost enough to heal any war-torn soul on a day like today. _________________________________________________________________ Words: 593 Notes: N/A |
