Just because she had to work didn’t mean Bebe had to work in some dingy old office setting. She had set herself up at the back corner of the break room where it was warm and nice and was quickly typing away on her keyboard. The scientists here at Mt. Moon were more concerned with recovering – or at least making up for – what had been stolen, and weren’t paying too much attention to Bebe at all. She had already gotten away with it yesterday, so of course she was going to do it again today.
The whole point of her coming here had been to extend her network, and that was exactly what she intended to do. The keyloggers were in place, she had planned where to set up a couple of tiny cameras of her own, and right now she was familiarising herself with the backgrounds of some of the workers here. It was the safest job to in a more public area – she could always claim that she was curious, or maybe even that she was a big fan of one of the head scientist’s work. She was certain that she could feign an interest in space travel, or at least atronomy in general, on the spot if she needed to.
Bebe heard the door to the cafeteria open and her eyes flicked over to check the time. It wasn’t lunchtime yet. “Hungry?” she asked, projecting her voice so that she could easily be heard despite sitting in the back corner. Not once did she look up from her screen. “I hope that’s not your leftovers going off in the fridge.” It had looked like something with pasta; something that looked like an… interesting biological experiment at best. “It’ll probably knock you out if you so much as look at it.”
