Bebe had taken her time in finding the head honcho of Viridian city. Of course she had. How could you not when there were so many interesting things to see? Bebe had already wandered aimlessly through the inside of one of the military academy’s buildings, counting cameras and rooms and everything else that could be counted. If anyone asked, and some people did, she was looking for Ivy Walker, who was either here or there, depending on whom she asked. Some people didn’t know for sure, but some people didn’t look like the kind of people who would know for sure.
And the people who did know all seemed to wear a similar look on their face when Ivy Walker’s name was mentioned. Bebe didn’t know enough about people to know what that particular look meant, but she did know enough to know that it wasn’t one of joy or something similar. She hadn’t had time to read up much on the officer in charge, but from what she had glanced over, Bebe had quickly gathered that she wasn’t Miss Sunshine and Rainbows.
They never were. The Queen of Hearthome City was further proof of that.
Finally Bebe gave up on wandering and counting, and decided to get the meeting over and done with. She had already stretched out the “I’m lost” excuse well enough, and officers seemed to like it when someone else was late. But even when she was actually trying to look for the woman, it still took longer than she wanted. By the time she found her, her stomach was already quietly giving her hints.
Ivy Walker stood among what Bebe could only describe as newbies, and she stood out well amongst them. It was easy to see who the boss was. Unsure about interrupting, but not feeling enthusiastic about waiting around, Bebe stood at the edge doing the first thing she came up with; she put her hand up in the air and waved it side to side, instantly getting some of the newbies’ attention, distracting them.
